But adding motion to a shoot isn’t simply about hitting record—it requires a different approach to directing, storytelling, and managing the time you have with your talent.  In this course, commercial photographer and director Aaron Anderson shares how he approaches creating stills and motion within the same production. Drawing from his cinematic photography process, Aaron will explore how lighting, composition, movement, and direction can work together to create a cohesive visual story across both mediums.  You’ll learn how to:  Approach stills and motion with a shared visual language and story. Direct talent in ways that create opportunities for both photography and motion. Plan and utilize limited time on set without sacrificing either medium. Think beyond a single frame by incorporating movement, environment, and narrative into your work. Build a practical approach to adding motion to your existing photography skill set.

Huzi Koya and Jesse Preston of Florence James Collective will break down how to structure a hybrid shoot from start to finish, including sequencing, lighting decisions, and shot list design.

One of the biggest challenges in a hybrid shoot is lighting. Strobes deliver the power and control you want for stills, but the moment you switch to video, they’re out of the equation. Constant lights keep motion looking great, but can leave stills feeling flat or underpowered.

In this hands-on Photo Walk, Huzi and Jesse will show you how to build a lighting setup that works for both, so you can move seamlessly between stills and motion without compromising either.
