Aaron Anderson

Aaron Anderson is a commercial photographer and director known for cinematic, story-driven work that makes people feel larger than life without making them feel fake. Moving between still photography and motion, he creates campaigns in which both mediums share the same visual language while bringing something distinct to the story. Aaron has created work for brands including PlayStation, Fujifilm, Rockstar Games, Bosch, Monster Energy, and International Justice Mission. Whether he's directing movement across a scene or building a single unforgettable frame, his approach is grounded in purposeful lighting, authentic performances, and a clear narrative. As an educator, Aaron shares the creative and practical lessons he has learned from working on both sides of the stills-and-motion divide. He helps photographers expand into directing without losing the voice, intention, and humanity that made their photography compelling in the first place.

More and more productions are asking photographers to think beyond the still frame. But adding motion to a shoot isn’t simply about hitting record—it requires a different approach to directing, storytelling, and managing the time you have with your talent.  In this course, commercial photographer and director Aaron Anderson shares how he approaches creating stills and motion within the same production. Drawing from his cinematic photography process, Aaron will explore how lighting, composition, movement, and direction can work together to create a cohesive visual story across both mediums.  You’ll learn how to:  Approach stills and motion with a shared visual language and story. Direct talent in ways that create opportunities for both photography and motion. Plan and utilize limited time on set without sacrificing either medium. Think beyond a single frame by incorporating movement, environment, and narrative into your work. Build a practical approach to adding motion to your existing photography skill set.
