Summer Grace

Summer Grace is a wedding photographer, educator, and founder of Summer School. She photographs high-end weddings around the world with a mix of digital, 35mm, and medium format film, blending documentary moments with an editorial and sometimes unexpected approach.

After years of photographing weddings digitally, Summer picked up film again simply because she was curious and it completely changed the way she approached her work. Whether she’s trying a new camera, experimenting with an analog process, or making something a little weird, she’s always looking for ways to keep photography interesting. Through Summer School, her podcast, workshops, and speaking, she encourages other photographers to do the same.

Whether you are loading your first roll or have been shooting film for years, this session is about staying curious and not overcomplicating the process. Summer Grace is a wedding photographer who now shoots upwards of 30 rolls at some weddings, but it all started by simply bringing a film camera along and seeing what happened. She shares how experimenting with cameras, formats, processes, and all the things in between has shaped her work, and why she believes you do not have to know exactly what you are doing or where it will lead before you start.

Attendees will learn how to approach film without feeling like they need to know everything first, how changing one thing can completely change the way they see and make photographs, how to experiment creatively while still serving real wedding clients, how to discover their own preferences instead of searching for the right way to shoot film, and how to stay curious and keep their work evolving, whether they are a beginner or an experienced film photographer.
