SUMMARY:PW42: Light Tells the Story: How to Read and Shape Light Anywhere | Meg Loeks
DESCRIPTION:Light does more than illuminate a subject. It shapes mood\, directs attention\, creates depth\, and becomes part of the story. Join Meg Loeks for a hands-on photo walk exploring how she reads available light and decides when and why to introduce created light. Meg will demonstrate how direction\, quality\, intensity\, and the balance between ambient and flash can transform a portrait while still allowing the environment to play an important role. Attendees will learn how to recognize and use different qualities and directions of light\, how to balance ambient light and flash\, how light can create depth\, separation\, and visual hierarchy\, how to make intentional lighting choices based on story and mood\, and how small changes in light and subject placement can transform a portrait. Recommended gear: camera and portrait lens. Attendees will have the opportunity to photograph during the walk\, and Profoto remotes will be provided for use with the lighting setups.\n(This class requires pre-registration. Please purchase it with your WPPI pass or add it to your existing registration.)
